“Sexual Immorality: A Study of the Term πορνεία"
DOI:

Sexual immorality
is mentioned repeatedly in both the Old Testament and the New. Reference is often made to it through the term πορνεία and its cognates. The
purpose of this study is to determine the meaning of the term πορνεία
and its cognates—ἐκπορνεία, πορνεία, πορνεύω, πόρνη and πόρνος—in
the Old Testament text of the LXX and in the New Testament. The
use πορνεία in the LXX and in the New Testament is similar although
the LXX prefers the figurative sense and the New Testament the literal meaning. The study suggests that πορνεία and related terms refer to
sexual activities (as long as they are used literally) such as prostitution,
premarital sex, adultery, incest and homosexual activity
