Abstract

The use of previous inspired texts by later biblical authors has been studied for years. This phenomenon has been called intertextuality. There are various levels at which the use of a text can be seen in a later author. After a bibliographic review of contemporary trends in this regard, in this study we analyze the case of the Grace Formula found in Exodus 34:6-7. We study this passage in context and then study its use in the rest of the Pentateuch, in the book of Psalms, and in the Minor Prophets where it is integrated into the theology of this textual group. We note that in each use the subsequent author respects the initial context of the passage and integrates it into his argument by contextualizing it to his new reality.
