Abstract

In the present study, an analysis of the structure of the book of Judges as an integral unit is made, adopting a synchronic approach. With this objective, the different proposals that cover the structure of the book will be compared, either partially or totally. Then, the linguistic and thematic links between the different parts of Judges are identified, in order to prepare a unified structural proposal that reflects the most relevant theological topics. As a result of the analysis, it is proposed not only that Judges does possess an elaborate structure, but that the focus of this structure points to Abimelech’s account as a focal point, which is constituted as a paradigmatic story that functions as the turning point of the structure.
